An Auckland woman who runs a talent and event management company that shares its name with a terrorist organisation says she has no choice but to undertake a costly rebrand to save her business.
Chrissy Ve, who runs Issis Events, started up the company eight years ago but is changing its name to avoid association with the group Islamic State.
"I've had some of my talent come to me and say they no longer want to work with me because of the association with ISIS", she told ONE News.
"I'm losing business and staff - it's costing me money."
Ms Ve estimated the rebrand would cost her thousands of dollars, saying that she would "have to make a new website, new business cards, the whole lot".
There are dozens of New Zealand businesses operating under the name Isis or Issis, which is the name of an ancient Egyptian goddess.
