'Come down' - Tasman fire evacuees told to come get some food and a shower as donations pour in

Tonnes of food has been dropped off by generous members of the public to feed those on the front lines of the Tasman fire, as well as evacuees.

Organiser Maragaret Goff told 1 NEWS they have been overwhelmed by the amount of food they have received at the Saxton Suburbs Football Club, from a pallet full of watermelon to 50 loaves of bread.

"We've got so much food we don't know what to do with it," Ms Goff said.

She said she and others have been up since early this morning and that more and more food keeps pouring in.

"Any of the families that need food - come down - we're making up boxes for them," she said.

Showers and towels are also available for those evacuated from the quake.

Baking, fruit, lollies and sports drinks are being accepted at the club in the middle of Saxton Field.
