Homicide investigation launched after dying woman found on Christchurch road

A woman who was found critically injured near the airport in Christchurch this morning has died. 

Police say she died a short time after being found on Orchard Road. 

A man at the scene has been taken into custody and is helping police with inquiries. 

Police say they are not seeking anyone else in relation to the woman's death.

Emergency services were called to the location shortly before 6.50am this morning.
