Christchurch Police ask public to help identify suspicious man who approached a woman

A young woman has reportedly been threatened while out walking in Shirley, in Christchurch.

A man in a black four wheel drive vehicle with tinted windows threatened the woman and told her to get inside his vehicle on Orontes Street in Shirley at about 10.15am yesterday morning.

She refused and he drove away with the last sighting of him heading towards Emmett Street.

A police spokesperson said the woman was shaken, but uninjured.

The woman did not know the man, she said. She described him as having dark coloured skin and was of a medium build and wearing a black beanie.

He may have had a tattoo on one of his cheeks.
