The Chase star Shaun Wallace stuns fans after making surprise appearances at Auckland quizzes

February 13, 2019

The Chase star Shaun Wallace has left Kiwi fans of the show stunned after making several surprise appearances at quizzes around Auckland last night.

Known as "The Dark Destroyer" on the popular game show, Wallace made a stop at The Horse and Trap in Mt Eden during the Believe It Or Not Quiz event, NZ Herald reports.

"When he walked in, it was like Tom Jones walked into the room," quiz host Brent "Riggsy" Riggs told NZ Herald. "It was more than crowd goes wild, it was more like cougars gone wild."

"They went nuts and I just handed over the microphone and said, 'You're pretty good at answering the questions but how good are you at reading them?'"

Wallace, donning an All Blacks shirt, took the time to take photos with his legion of fans, and also helped some of the quiz teams during his surprise stop.

After 30 minutes, the quiz master made his way to the Garrison Public House, in Mt Wellington, for another unannounced visit.

Paul Sinha - aka the Sinha Man - is coming to New Zealand for the International Comedy Fest.

"Everyone flocked to him like he is a Hollywood star. People couldn't get enough of him," The Hits radio announcer Dave Nicholas said.

Contrary to his character as "The Dark Destroyer", Wallace again walked around the room to offer help to the various teams before joining the team in last place to lend a helping hand, Nicholas told NZ Herald.

"He even answered a question about a particular Māori tribe which most teams struggled to answer. Everyone was blown away by that."

Shaun Wallace will be a guest on Seven Sharp tonight, from 7pm
