Police seized cash, drugs, and an illegal gun during a raid in which three people were arrested in the Central Otago town of Alexandra this morning.
Methamphetamine in plastic bag (file).
A substantial amount of cash, several grams of methamphetamine, cannabis and an illegal firearm, along with loaded magazine, were seized at the Centennial Avenue address, said Detective Sergeant Brian Cameron of Otago Lakes Central Investigations.
The search warrant and subsequent arrests occurred without incident and two people, a 29-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman were due to appear at the Alexandra District Court this afternoon, he said.
They have been charged with possession for supply of methamphetamine, possession for supply of cannabis and unlawful possession of a restricted firearm.
The other person was released without charge.
Police had received information from members of the community about the distribution of methamphetamine in the wider Alexandra area and their help has assisted in today’s arrests, Mr Cameron said.
