A car being pursued by police in the Waikato town of Te Awamutu late this morning crashed into a parked vehicle before eventually being stopped by road spikes.
Police say they attempted to pull over a speeding car on Kihikihi Road in Te Awamutu at 11.36am.
Senior Sergeant Phil Ruddell told 1 NEWS the driver failed to stop and a police unit began following.
The driver continued through central Te Awamutu with police making various attempts to get him to stop.
At one stage, the driver crashed into a parked vehicle on Bank Road.
At 11.58am police successfully deployed road spikes to bring the pursuit to an end and the car came to a stop on Teasdale Street.
Mr Ruddell says the driver tried to run from the scene but was arrested by a police dog unit.
A 26-year-old local man will face driving and methamphetamine related charges.
He will likely appear in Hamilton District Court tomorrow.
