Police have been trying to ascertain who was in a car that collided with a bus carrying tourists on the Te Anau Milford Highway in Southland this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the scene at Te Anau Downs at 2.55pm and arrived to find both vehicles on fire.
Everyone is out of the bus which was carrying tourists and some of them were taken to a local medical centre to be assessed for minor injuries, said Southland Area Commander, Inspector Joel Lamb.
Other passengers have been picked up by other buses that were nearby, he said.
Police are working to ascertain who was in the car which emergency services have not been able to search for occupants due to the extent of the fire, Mr Lamb said.
The road is now partially open after being is closed in both directions while investigators examine the scene, he said.
Efforts will be made to fully reopen the route after the vehicles involved have been recovered.
The Commercial Vehicle Investigation Unit is also investigating.
