Thousands of Cantabrians come together for vigil to remember Christchurch terror attack victims

Hagley Park was filled with 20,000 people who turned out to honour those killed in the mosque attacks.

Thousands of people gathered last night in Christchurch’s Hagley Park to honour those killed in the mosque attacks.

The event hosted speeches, musical performances and celebrations onstage of the first responders who helped on the horrific day.

The gathering, organised by Scott Esdaile, was planned as a family friendly event where people could bring a picnic and show their support for the Muslim community.

A national remembrance service for the victims of the Christchurch terror attack will be held on Friday.
