Operation Lucy led to 105,000 cannabis plants being destroyed, 112 firearms seized and 640 suspects arrested.

Detective Senior Sergeant Scott McGill said that by destroying the plants before they were harvested "police have prevented significant social damage from occurring in our community".

An estimated $195,000 worth of stolen property was also recovered during the raids.

Mr McGill said three clan labs were discovered during Operation Lucy, two in Northland and one in Eastern District.

The highest number of cannabis plants were seized in Northland, with 46,224 destroyed, followed by Bay of Plenty and Eastern.
