Businesses in east Gore, in Southland, are now out of lockdown after police responded to a "serious incident" this afternoon.
Police and the Armed Offenders Squad were at the scene of a firearms incident on Hamilton Street just after 2.30pm today.
Police told 1 NEWS no one was injured during the incident and no arrests were made.
All cordons in the area have been lifted.
Police say inquiries will continue into the circumstances of the incident.
