May 11, 2018

Weather presenter Matty McLean brought along his friend Kelly to interpret the weather.

This morning TVNZ 1 Breakfast weather presenter Matty McLean delivered the forecast alongside his friend Kelly, who interpreted the report in New Zealand Sign Language.

It is currently New Zealand Sign Language week.

"Things have taken a bit of a turn as we round out the working week, as a rain band pushes on to the country from the west," Matty said and Kelly signed.

There is a severe weather warning from MetService for heavy rain in the Westland area, south of Hokitika from 6am to 11pm today.

About 80 to 120mm is expected around the ranges.

Heavy rain could also hit Nelson and Mt Taranaki areas.
