Brave Taranaki toddler dies 'peacefully' in his parents' arms after cancer battle

March 29, 2019

A brave Taranaki toddler has died "peacefully" in his parents' arms after losing a cancer battle this week.

The family of two-year-old Corey Keeling had travelled to New York to try to treat the toddler's neuroblastoma cancer.

Unfortunately, the disease continued to spread after treatment in the US for a number of months beginning in September last year.

Parents Aly and Hayden Keeling decided to return home to New Zealand last month, according to posts on the Corey the Brave Facebook page documenting the family's journey.

Sadly, the family announced Corey's death on the Facebook page.

"After leaving New York we were told that we potentially had very little time left with our beautiful boy. Every moment has been so precious and the last 6 weeks have been pure magic.

"Our beautiful boy has been called home. He has earned his angel wings and is free of cancer. He passed peacefully in our arms, surrounded by love from all around the world," a post from mum Aly reads.

Service arrangements will be announced shortly for those that wish to celebrate Corey and his life, the post concludes..
