Bowie the Cavoodle still missing despite huge public response after puppy-napping from outside Auckland Burger Fuel

April 27, 2018

Police say Bowie the Cavoodle is still missing despite a "tremendous public response" after the six-month-old puppy was brazenly stolen from outside an Auckland Burger Fuel.

Earlier this week police released CCTV footage of the theft taking place in the hopes of locating the wayward pooch, who was stolen in New Lynn on Wednesday April 18.

Since then they say there has been a tremendous response from the public but no solid leads as of yet.

"We are still very keen to speak to the woman in the CCTV footage, but also the two people who walked past Bowie while she was being un-clipped outside Burger Fuel in New Lynn," a police spokesperson said in a statement today.

"Those members of the public may have assumed the puppy belonged to the woman un-clipping her, but that does not appear to be the case.

"We'd also like to hear from the owner of a mid-1990’s maroon coloured Toyota Rav 4 that was parked on yellow lines outside the photo shop next to Burger Fuel."

The puppy's owner was inside the store when the CCTV captured someone unhooking the leash and carrying the dog away.

Police describe Bowie as a brown Cavoodle who was wearing a red collar with a round gold tag. She is six months old and very friendly.
