Body of missing fisherman found in Northland

The body of a 65-year-old fisherman has been found on the Hokianga Harbour in Northland tonight after he was reported missing earlier in the evening.

Police say they were were notified at about 5.15 pm that a man had not returned from fishing at Motukaraka Point, Kohukohu.

Police conducted a search with Coastguard and air support, along with assistance from the community.

The body of a 65-year-old man was found around 8pm.

Police say the matter has been referred to the coroner.
