Body found at property in Hawke's Bay after police search for Alex Latimer

October 6, 2018

Alex Latimer hasn’t been seen since Sunday and his car was found burnt out on the side of the road in Napier the following day.

Police have found a body they believe is that of missing man Alex Latimer after they made two arrests in relation to his alleged assault by two men.

Detective Inspector Mike Foster said this afternoon in a release that the body has not yet been formally identified, but they believe it is Mr Latimer.

He was last seen at Bay View BP about 1.25am on Sunday, September 30, and police think he was on his way to the Te Haroto area at the time.

Police are asking for sightings that night of Mr Latimer's white 2000 Toyota Corolla hatchback, which was found burned on Omaranui road on the following Monday.

The two men charged over Mr Latimer's assault are aged 26 and 24, and appeared at Hastings District Court on Friday.

Both were given name suppression and were remanded in custody to reappear in court later this month.

Police say further charges against the two are likely, and an investigation into what happened continues.

Police can be contacted on 06 831 0955, and information can be provided to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
