Police have released the name of the teenage swimmer whose body was found north Auckland's Piha Beach on Monday evening.
He was Episami Pasiaka, 16, of Avondale in West Auckland.
He was reported missing from Whatipu Beach on Saturday December 29, 2018.
Police extend their sympathies to Episami’s family at this difficult time, Inspector Gerry Whitley, Relieving Area Commander, Waitemata West said in releasing his name this afternoon.
"We would also like to extend our appreciation to all those who were involved in the search for Episami," Inspector Whitley said.

Episami's death will be referred to the Coroner.
