Bay of Plenty house fire being treated as suspicious

Fire and Emergency are treating a house fire in the Bay of Plenty this morning as suspicious.

Emergency services were called about 3.30am to the house in Maketu - south of Tauranga.

Spokesperson Daniel Nicholson said crews arrived to find the house fully ablaze and three fire engines worked to extinguish it.

He said a fire investigator was at the scene, and it was being treated as suspicious.

Meanwhile in Rotorua, a fire investigator is at the scene of a motel fire.

Fire and emergency were called shortly early this morning to a unit ablaze at Union Victoria Motel.

Mr Nicholson says there were no injuries and no one is missing.
