Baby teething powder, colic powder being recalled as plastic poses choking hazard

An urgent recall has been launched for batches of baby teething powder and baby colic powder because slivers of white plastic could peel off the jars, posing a choking hazard.

Weleda (New Zealand) Limited tonight said it's recalling various batches of baby teething powder and baby colic powder because small, soft, slivers of white plastic could potentially peel off the jar cap upon first opening.

This is due to the tightness of the caps' fit in the jars.

"This presents a potential for physical contamination of the powder with plastic when opening the jar and may constitute a choking hazard," the company said.

More information on the recall can be found here.
