Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has opened up about the impact of baby daughter Neve on her government's policies, currently balancing motherhood and running a country at the same time.
In New York to attend the United Nations general assembly this week, Ms Ardern appeared on NBC's Today Show, speaking frankly about juggling parenthood and politics.
"It's another level, and probably our focus on family-friendly policies," Ms Ardern began.
"We'd already implemented 26 weeks paid parental leave in New Zealand.
"Now, I just have that extra strength of feeling behind that being the right thing to do."
She was also asked by host Savannah Guthrie whether running the country or taking a baby on a 17-hour flight was more difficult.
"It felt at the time on-par. But between Clarke (Gayford) and I, we managed it. She is a good baby, I can't complain," Ms Ardern replied.
"There's that look you get when you walk onto a plane with a little one, that stare you get from other passengers ... I did actually apologise in advance.
Overnight, Ms Ardern also announced NZ will increase its global finance commitment to $300 million over four years, aimed at Pacific countries.
