There's now more than enough funding for a controversial children's book featuring gay characters to be published.
Wellington-based authors Adam Reynolds and Chaz Harris have written Promised Land, which tells the story of a prince and a farmer who fall in love.
The pair turned to the crowd funding website Kickstarter to raise the $25,000 needed to illustrate, design and print the book.
Already more than $30,000 has been donated.
Mr Reynolds and Mr Harris say they're thrilled with the result.
The pair told ONE News that they grew up questioning whether being gay was wrong because same sex couples were never featured in their childhood.
"Love is between more than just a man and a woman," Mr Reynolds said.
The first edition of Promised Land is expected to be released on October 11 this year, which is recognised internationally as Coming Out Day.
