The 25-year-old Melbourne man went missing on Tuesday afternoon when the weather turned bad.

He later messaged a friend that he was lost and uncomfortable with where he was as it was getting dark, reports NZN.

Mr Galdamez was only prepared for a day walk and had no food and very little water, Sergeant Terry Wood told the Otago Daily Times.
