Auckland's Waitakere Ranges to be closed in effort to combat kauri dieback

Despite track closures and a rahui, thousands continued to visit the popular area.

Auckland Council will close all forested areas of the Waitakere Ranges in an effort to combat kauri dieback.

High risk tracks in parts of the Hunua Rages will also be closed the council says in a tweet.

Auckland Council confirmed the closure today.

Iwi and West Auckland community members say the government are moving too slowly.
