Auckland trial of well-known businessman accused of indecent assault aborted

March 18, 2019

An Auckland jury has also heard how the man allegedly tried to bribe one of the pair to drop his complaint.

The trial involving a prominent New Zealand businessman and a well known entertainer has been aborted.

The wealthy businessman is accused of indecently assaulting two men and along with two others, including the entertainer, of attempting to pervert the course of justice by trying to persuade one of the complainants to not give his evidence.

Judge Russell Collins said events in Christchurch are just one factor but there are compelling reasons why the trial was brought to
an end.

The trial in the Auckland District Court was about to embark on its third week.
