Auckland Harbour Bridge set to light up tonight to honour Anzac war heroes

April 19, 2018

The Auckland Harbour Bridge is set to light up in a tribute to those who served their country in WWI and other conflicts.

Collaborating with the RSA, Auckland's Harbour Bridge is joining more than 80 events in the region that are honouring Anzacs.

The bridge will shine tonight and tomorrow with a static red lighting from 6pm.

On Anzac Day itself, Wednesday 25th April, a light and sound show will play from 5am until 6.30am to accompany the dawn services.

The show will play again that night from 6.00pm until midnight.

"The Auckland RSA is thrilled to have our iconic Auckland Bridge illuminated for the first time ever with the Poppy, our equally iconic symbol of remembrance, for this Poppy Day and Anzac Day," says President Graham Gibson.

"This is such a fresh and innovative telling of the Poppy story and a truly special way to honour the sacrifice of New Zealanders this Anzac Day."
