Another Greens candidate pulls out but party denies it's part of the Turei turmoil

Green Party member Susanne Ruthven is withdrawing her name as a candidate for September's election.

She was standing as a candidate for Hutt South, but has just taken a new job at a government agency.

Greens co-leader James Shaw confirmed she is withdrawing, saying she is unable to do both at the same time.

He said it has absolutely nothing to do with the events of the past few weeks.

He said speculation it is part of a "dirty deal" done to make the campaign easier for Labour's Hutt South candidate Ginny Andersen, is not true.

The two parties agreed to both run as many "strong candidates in as many electorates as possible, if not all".
