State Highway 65 Shanandoah on the West Coast is closed after a truck and trailer rolled just after midnight last night.
A police spokesperson says the driver was uninjured but the truck is completely blocking the road and could take sometime to move.
The truck was carrying tomatoes and hydrogen peroxide. Fire attended to make the scene safe in regards to the chemicals.
The alternative route is via State Highway 69 through Inangahua and Reefton.
This detour will add even extra time to the current closure and diversions as a result of State Highway One being closed through Kaikoura following ex tropical cyclone Gita.

Those getting the ferry from Picton are being urged to give themselves plenty of extra time.
