Police are investigating a report that an Air New Zealand aircraft was hit by a green laser strike after take-off at Kerikeri Airport this morning.
The aircraft had just departed from the airport at 6.10am and was flying at around 1,500 feet when the laser strike occurred, said Constable Rhys Dempster of Kerikeri Police.
Police are taking the incident seriously and are making enquiries into it, he said.
