If Air New Zealand's next 17 hour flight destination is announced as Chicago, as is rumoured, this would benefit both Kiwis wanting to travel to the US and boost tourism to New Zealand.
House of Travel's, Brent Thomas told TVNZ1's Breakfast today Kiwis are already flocking to the long haul flights from New Zealand as they want to "stop over in different places".
If the rumours are true, Mr Thomas says: "It's going to be another opportunity to see the mid west America or the eastern seaboard of America".
Air New Zealand are set to announce their new long-haul destination today to add to its international network.
A long haul flight to Chicago from New Zealand would also benefit tourism in New Zealand, Mr Thomas says.
"New Zealand is a very favourite of Americans, they love coming down here."
He also says it gives an option for travellers from Europe coming into Chicago to then come down to New Zealand in one flight.
