The body of a man who failed to surface from a snorkelling excursion in Hawke's Bay over the weekend has been recovered by police divers.
The 56-year-old was found in the sea this afternoon not far from the shore of Pourerere Beach.
Sea and land searches were launched yesterday after the Hastings man disappeared while snorkelling with a friend.
Search co-ordinator Detective Wayne Steed says the man was reported missing when he became separated from his friend as they swam back to shore.
A post mortem will be carried out tomorrow and the death has been referred to the Coroner. The man's name will be released when all family have been notified.
