The normally crowd-pleasing Metallica hit a bum note when they tried to pull off an ambitious two man cover of a Prince classic while performing in his hometown of Minneapolis.
They decided to pay tribute to the popstar with a penchant for purple with a cover of When Doves Cry.
However, Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett and bassist Robert Trujillo’s effort was bad enough to make not just doves, but fans cry as well.
Their performance on Wednesday led Seven Sharp to look at it and other failed covers, including our own Dave Dobbyn, in the video above.
