Watch: Ben Affleck apologises for groping MTV host in THIS VIDEO in 2003 - 'I acted inappropriately'

October 12, 2017

Actor Ben Affleck has taken to social media to "sincerely apologise" to a former MTV presenter for groping her on air back in 2003 after the incident re-ignited in light of the actor speaking out against Harvey Weinstein.

Actress Hilarie Burton claims that the American actor groped her during an episode of TRL.

Upon hearing the news of Harvey Weinstein facing multiple sexual harassment allegations, Affleck responded on Facebook and Twitter, saying that he is saddened and angry that "a man who I worked with used his position of power to intimidate, sexually harass and manipulate many women over decades."

"The additional allegations of assault that I read this morning made me sick. This is completely unacceptable, and I find myself asking what I can do to make sure this doesn't happen to others."

In response to his statement, Twitter users quickly highlighted Hilarie Burton's allegation against Affleck, to which she tweeted, "I didn't forget."

Since then, Burton tweeted, "Girls. I'm so impressed with you brave ones. I had to laugh back then so I wouldn't cry. Sending love," along with a throwback MTV TRL video which features her saying "he comes over and tweeks my left boob."

Speaking out against the incident since it reignited, Affleck tweeted, "I acted inappropriately toward Ms. Burton and I sincerely apologize."

The list of actresses alleging inappropriate sexual advances, if not outright rape, against him continues to grow against Harvey Weinstein.

The allegations first emerged against Weinstien after a New York Times piece was published detailing several incidents involving actresses like Ashley Judd.

Gwyneth Paltrow and Angelina Jolie yesterday joined the group of women accusing him of sexual harassment.

Weinstein is a famed producer, having co-founded the Miramax company with his brother Bob and then creating the Weinstein Company in 2005.

He has been the executive producer of several many films, including The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, The English Patient, Scream, Good will Hunting, The Cider House Rules, Inglourious Basterds, The King's Speech, The Artist and dozens more.
