An eyewitness says a brawl broke out next to the Sky Tower this afternoon.

An American hip-hop artist has confirmed he was involved in an Auckland brawl which left a man seriously injured after being stabbed with a broken bottle yesterday afternoon .

Hip-hop duo Rae Sremmurd's Aaquil Iben Shamon Brown, known by stage name Slim Jxmmi, was involved in the fight shortly after bungy jumping off the Sky Tower yesterday, according to a live video posted to his Instagram account.

Emergency services say they were called to an altercation between two groups of people on Federal Street shortly after 4pm, where a man had allegedly been stabbed with a glass bottle.

He was transported to hospital and has since undergone surgery and is recovering.

Police are appealing for any witnesses to the stabbing incident to come forward.

Detective Senior Sergeant Kathryn Bostock says two men are assisting police with enquiries, however the investigation is ongoing.

"This is an area with a lot of people out and about and we’d like to hear from anyone who saw what happened or anyone who filmed it on their phone.

"We urge you to contact Auckland Police."

No charges have been laid at this stage.

In another video posted to the rapper's Instagram last night, Jxmmi showed off a bandaged hand as he said, "Ice on my wrist".

Rae Sremmurd will be performing at Epsom's Logan Campbell Centre in Auckland later tonight.
