UK electronic act Underworld pull out of Auckland's Electric Gardens festival

January 7, 2019

UK electronic dance act Underworld have pulled out of Auckland's Electric Gardens act in February.

The band issued a statement today saying they had to cancel their Australia and New Zealand appearances due to "unforseen circumstances".

"Due to unforeseen circumstances, beyond the control of the band and the local presenters Mona Foma and Electric Gardens, Underworld have regrettably had to withdraw from their Australia/New Zealand tour in January 2019.

"We are sorry to disappoint those of you looking forward to seeing us and wish our friends at Electric Garden and Mona Foma the very best of luck with their festivals. We will be back soon…" their statement reads.

Fatboy Slim is now due to play a longer set to close the event at Auckland's Ellerslie Racecourse on Saturday, February 2nd.

The organisers of the festival say they are looking for a replacement act and those wanting details on possible refunds can email egnewzealand@t1000.com.au.

Underworld shot to worldwide fame with their hit song Born Slippy from the Trainspotting movie soundtrack.
