Trump calls for 'retribution' after SNL lampoons his emergency declaration

US President Donald Trump has called for "retribution" after Saturday Night Live aired a sketch yesterday lampooning his emergency declaration for the US-Mexico border wall.

During the show's opening segment, the president, played by Alec Baldwin, begins his speech outside the White House's Rose Garden by talking about his "shredded" physique, as well as the upcoming summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in Hanoi, Vietnam, before segueing back to the US' need for a wall.

"We. Need. Wall. OK? We have a tremendous amount of drugs flowing into this country, from the southern border or the 'brown line', as many people have asked me not to call it," said Baldwin, as Mr Trump. "That's why we need wall - because wall works. Wall makes safe.

"You don't have to be that smart to understand that. In fact, it's even easier to understand if you're not that smart. You can all see why I gotta fake this national emergency, right? It's because I want to. I have to because I want to.

"It's really simple - we have a problem. Drugs are coming into this country through no wall."

In a tweet, Mr Trump responded to the parody: "Nothing funny about tired Saturday Night Live on Fake News NBC! Question is, how do the Networks get away with these total Republican hit jobs without retribution? Likewise for many other shows? Very unfair and should be looked into. This is the real Collusion!"
