Television star John 'Cocksy' Cocks dies, aged 52

TVNZ says Cocksy appeared in some of its biggest shows.

Popular television star John Cocks, known as Cocksy, has died after a long battle with cancer.

The 52-year-old who featured in the TVNZ show My House My Castle was taken by helicopter to his property at Tairua in the Coromandel, before passing away yesterday (February 6).

The house which he built was where he wanted to spend his last moments.

"John 'Cocksy' Cocks appeared in some of TVNZ's biggest shows," TVNZ said in a statement.

"He was loved by viewers who appreciated his can-do attitude, his honesty and warmth. Our sympathies are with John's family and friends."

Cocks is survived by his wife Dana Coote and three daughters.
