US popstar Khalid has told TVNZ1's Seven Sharp about his respect for Lorde's fighting spirit during their recent European tour together.
The 19-year-old singer, whose single 'Young, Dumb & Broke' was produced by Kiwi Joel Little, said he was impressed at how Lorde battled on even though she was sick for most of the tour.
"She's a fighter she was sick for the whole tour but she ran out every single night and gave the best possible show that she could.
"She was so loving and when she talked to the crowd it was very heartwarming and genuine. She has a genuine charisma about herself that is unmatchable. I'm a very big fan of her," Khalid said.
The US singer was greeted with a haka by local iwi before the final show of his American Teen world tour at Auckland’s Spark Arena.
Just hours before taking to the stage at Auckland's Spark Arena last night Khalid was welcomed with a powhiri preformed by local iwi.
"Giving me a piece of your culture and making me feel at home is amazing to me," said the 19-year-old singer-songwriter.
"This was beautiful, I've never seen anything like it."
Last night's Auckland show was the final stop on the Khalid's American Teen world tour.
