Scarlett Johansson is in final negotiations to star in Taika Waititi's new movie, a comedy about the Holocaust.

Scarlett Johansson is reportedly in the final stage of negotiations to star in Taika Waititi's new movie, a comedy about the holocaust.

The film, Jojo Rabbit, is set in World War II with Johansson playing the mother of a proud young Nazi boy who finds out that his mum has been hiding a Jewish girl in their home, according to a Variety report.

According to the report, Waititi has made it clear that this would be the next movie he directed despite being offered a number of films following Thor: Ragnarok.

The 42-year-old Wellingtonian was able to meet with Johansson prior to filming the pilot of the small screen version of his 2014 movie, What We Do in The Shadows.

Waititi, who wrote the script and will also co-produce, will now look to cast the role of the young boy
