US pop star Pink kicked off her nearly two-week New Zealand tour last night before a crowd of 37,000 at Dunedin's Forsyth Bar Stadium.

But it was a trip to the local farmer's market with her two children earlier in the day that stuck in her mind as she thanked fans early this morning.

"Thank you to everyone...for the flowers and pies and for being so kind to us," the singer wrote in the caption of an Instagram photo showing her children holding bunches of daffodils at the market. "What a beautiful memory today will be for us Harts."

The post was liked more than 225,000 times in the first eight hours that it was posted.

Pink began her show last night by hanging from a chandelier while singing her hit Let's Get the Party Started, the Herald reports.

"This is the most people I have ever seen in my life," she told the crowd, according to the newspaper.

Pink will be performing six more New Zealand shows, all in Auckland, over the course of eight days starting Tuesday.
