New 'Mammia Mia' show set to wow ABBA fans in London

It’s an immersive dining experience with storytelling, music and Greek food all rolled into one.

ABBA fans are invited to step into the world of Mamma Mia, through an immersive dining experience opening in London.

Called Mamma Mia! The Party, it’s been created by ABBA's own Bjorn Ulvaeus.

The show, which will take up residence at O2 Arena, rolls storytelling, music, Greek food and some circus elements into one.

Ulvaeus says the performance, first launched in ABBA's home country, Sweden, in 2016, has been sold out almost every night.

"I think, you know, that it will work perhaps even better here in London than in, Stockholm," he said.

It’s inspired by "Mamma Mia!" the musical, but the story is entirely different.

"It's totally new and that's what attracted me to it in the first place”

"Curiosity, an experiment to see whether this could work or not," said the 73-year-old.

"The story is happening right in between the tables and it's, the actors are always conscious of the guests and try to drag them into whatever they're doing at the time."

The other members of ABBA - Benny Andersson, Agnetha Faltskog and Frida Lyngstad - have not had any input into the project, but have supported it throughout.

The show features 23 songs, some very well known, and a handful of lesser known tracks.

The show officially opens in London next September, and 500 people will be able to attend each night.
