After 23 years at The Edge, radio presenter Jay-Jay Harvey announced today she is leaving the station.

Harvey started at The Edge in 1994 in Hamilton, when it was founded.

She said she is looking forward to some time away and is ready to welcome the next phase.

The Edge host returned to work today having 'hit the wall'. Today, she bravely gave an insight into her past.

"This has been a massive, life-changing decision," Harvey said in a statement today.

"I've been at The Edge for more than half my life and I feel very ready now to move on.

"I really want to thank all the amazing, hardworking and talented people I've worked with at The Edge over the years and especially give a big thanks to our incredible and supportive listeners."

Harvey will remain on air with The Edge Breakfast team, with co-hosts Dominic Harvey and Clint Randell until just before Christmas.

Megan Annear will be joining The Edge Breakfast and will take over Harvey's role when they officially launch their show in early 2018.
