This year marks 40 years since Fair Go hit TV screens, but our show wasn't the only great thing to come out of the 1970s.

It was a decade that saw skateboards hit the streets, Stubbies get trotted out and stoneware dinner sets take pride of place on tables around the country.

THE CHALLENGE:

For this year's ad awards, our challenge to you: Take something that came out in the 1970s and make it cool today. Sell us the things from the past, making them relevant to you and your mates in 2017.

The internet is full of inspiration and we'll post some helpful tips here and on our Facebook page. Remember, you are making a 30 second ad!

TO ENTER:

You need to submit your video to us online. Please don't post your ads to us.

Upload your video to YouTube and send us the link in an email. We suggest you make the video "unlisted" and turn off comments.

You don't need to send a full resolution video for the judges – we'll get in touch with you if we need that – but make sure it is good enough quality for us to appreciate your hard work.

DEADLINE FOR UPLOADING VIDEOS TO US: MIDNIGHT, FRIDAY 29TH SEPTEMBER 2017

Please email us at fairgo@tvnz.co.nz – you will need to include:
-Teacher's contact name
-Teacher's email and mobile phone number
-School name and address
-Category – primary, intermediate, secondary
-Summary
-Entry date
-YouTube link

KEY GUIDELINES:

You must be able to sell us this in 30 seconds (we are ruthless about timing).

Your ad will be primarily judged on concept, creativity and appeal to the audience.

A strong simple idea will win over technical brilliance.

THE REQUIREMENTS:

One 30 second video which will be entered online.

You will also be judged on your picture and sound quality, (we've been concerned about sound quality in the past couple of years so we will be paying special attention to this, so spend some time getting this right).

A summary outlining how you developed your ad – from idea generation to production.
