Seven Sharp host Hilary Barry has supported boos from an Auckland crowd after Barack Obama failed to greet them while arriving to speak at a gala dinner.
A crowd had flocked to a location in downtown Auckland to see Obama's arrival, but the 44thPresident of the United States was not playing along.
Cameras show a van pulling in after the motorcade and blocking the view of Obama.
"Don't ruin the fun," Hilary said on a live cross as the waiting crowd groaned and then booed.
"I'm kind of with them (the crowd), you know would it really hurt to walk the red carpet and greet a few people, that's a little bit rough.
"You don’t see her majesty the Queen shying away from a meet and greet with the regular people but he’s sort of scurried away."
