The Hobbit and Shortland Street actor Peter Vere-Jones dies, aged 82

He’s been acting since the 1960s and appeared in movies and television including The Hobbit and Shortland Street.

Kiwi actor Peter Vere-Jones, known for his roles in Braindead and The Hobbit, has died. He was 82.

Vere-Jones had been a professional actor since the 1960s and appeared in several Peter Jackson films, including Bad Taste and The Hobbit.

In the 1990s, he also starred in Shortland Street.

Vere-Jone was appointed as an Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the 2002 Queen's Birthday honours.
