The event has attracted acts from around the globe.

One of the world's best known beatboxers is in Christchurch to perform in the newly rebranded buskers festival.

The three-week event has attracted acts from around the world who are also taking time to share the tricks of their trade with aspiring performers.

Tom Thum has been beatboxing for 15 years and is responsible for the most viewed TED Talk of all time - although he didn't do much talking.

Along with Jamie MacDowell, the other half to his act, the pair are in Christchurch for the World Buskers Festival, this year called Bread and Circus.

They have spent some time with up-and-coming performers - passing on the craft to crowd of youngsters who turned out to learn from the duo.

Organisers say with acts like this, the festival's future is looking strong.
