Rocker Bruce Springsteen has collaborated on a song in which he calls US President Donald Trump a liar and a "con man" as well taking a stand against the recent controversial immigration crackdown.
Springsteen, who performed in Christchurch in February, appears on a track by Joe Grushecky called That's What Makes Us Great, which is his most political statement yet on the president.
The lyrics allude to disapproval of the US travel ban brought in by Mr Trump which has left thousands of people unable to travel to the country.
"They come from everywhere / A longing to be free / They come to join us here / From sea to shining sea / And they all have a dream / As people always will / To be safe and warm / In that shining city on the hill...
"Some wanna slam the door / Instead of opening the gate / Aw, let’s turn this thing around / Before it gets too late / It’s up to me and you / Love can conquer hate / I know this to be true / That's what makes us great..."
As well as criticising the travel ban, the lyrics also appear to directly criticise Mr Trump, calling him a "con man" and his administration "crooks".
"Don't tell me a lie / And sell it as a fact / I've been down that road before / And I ain't going back / And don't you brag to me / That you never read a book / I never put my faith / in a con man and his crooks..."
Although Springsteen is typically seen as a blue-collar icon - the very demographic Mr Trump targeted for votes in last year's election- he has shown his distaste for Trump in the past, including performing at a Hillary Clinton rally.
He has also referred to Mr Trump as a "moron" in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine.
The song can be purchased and downloaded exclusively on Joe Grusheky's website.
