Bachelor NZ couple Matilda Rice and Art Green expecting first child - 'Always knew we wanted to start a family'

February 17, 2019

Matilda Rice has confirmed she has pulled out of Dancing With The Stars NZ as she is expecting her first child with new husband Art Green.

The couple who met on the first season of The Bachelor NZ shared the news in Woman’s Day.

“We’re having a baby,” she told Woman’s Day magazine.

"Art and I are absolutely over the moon. We always knew we wanted to start a family."

Matilda says she and Art always knew they wanted to be parents.

"Now that we've reached our goal of buying a home, we feel really settled and ready for the next chapter in our relationship - marriage, renovations and mini Art and Matildas!"

Art is adamant any new additions to the family will be "free-range babies".

"We really want our kids to grow up surrounded by nature and, as a family, living off the land as best we can," he said.

Art proposed to Matilda in Rarotonga in 2017.

The baby news means Matilda will miss out on the 2019 season of Dancing With The Stars NZ, despite being named the second contestant for the competition.

"I'm gutted to have to pull out of Dancing with the Stars," Matilda told Newshub.

"But naturally I'm also super-excited about this next chapter in our lives."
