After invite to London Fashion Week, Waikato designer stymied by dress delivery snafu

February 20, 2019

Danielle Cormack has appeared on Shortland Street and Wentworth.

Waikato fashion designer Alecia Kana is meant to be showing her garments in an upcoming London Fashion Week preview show.

But there's been a massive hitch.

Because Ms Kana couldn't go to London due to family commitments, the garments were meant to travel with the model, Miss New Zealand 2017 Jewel Harris.

However, after failed taxis, Auckland traffic and courier woes Jewel had to fly without the dresses.

"I'm sure all Kiwi mums, or mums in general can relate," Ms Kana told TVNZ1's Seven Sharp. "A lot of the time you have to push back your dreams per se, your career goals."

Now she has a plea, hoping to find a helping hand from a fellow Kiwis.

"What I'm asking for is some kind soul who may be travelling from Auckland to London before the 23rd of February midnight, London time," she said.

"If they could possibly transport my garments with them, it's just a 6.2kg box so it's nothing too extravagant."

Alecia's hoping for a seamless step onto the world stage so she can keep calm, and carry on.
