There is a few Kiwi connections that could be in with a chance in tomorrow's big race Source: 1 Sport

Race 7: 5pm (NZT) - A$6 million, 3200m

1 0201Admire Rakti

7h (Heart's Cry-Admire Teresa) (8) 58.5kg. Tnr: Tomoyuki Umedia. Jockey: Zac Purdon. Classy Japanese stayer who came and conquered in the Caulfield Cup last month with a resounding win and only penalised half a kilo for that win. Poised to become the first horse since Kiwi mare Ethereal to complete the big Cups double. Distance will provide no problems. $4.60.

2 2114Cavalrymanm - SCRATCHED

3 7212Fawkner

7g (Reset-Dane-Belltar) (9) 57kg: Tnr: Robert Hickmott. Jockey: Nick Hall. Gallant second in the Cox Plate last start and won the Caulfield Stakes before that. Has hit peak form at perfectly the right time to this and will be cherry ripe when he goes to the starting line. Had no luck when sixth in this race last year behind Fiorente. Hard to beat here. $9.

4 46047Red Cadeaux

9g (Cadeaux Genereaux-Artisia) (15) 57kg: Tnr: Ed Dunlop. Jockey: Gerald Mosse. This represents his fourth tilt at the Cup and will be looking to go one better than last year when he finished runner-up behind Fiorente. However, no horse of this age has won the race and his recent form has been ordinary. $17.

5 2114Protectionist

5h (Morisun-Patineuse) (11) 56.5kg: Tnr: Andreas Wohler. Jockey: Ryan Moore. German galloper who has only had limited number of races but has peaked at the right time for this race. Powerful finish to run fourth in the Herbert Power and drops down in weight here. Has the ability to be a serious threat and one of best supported runners. Don't leave out of combinations. $7.50.

6 0850Sea Moon - SCRATCHED

7 6410Seismos

7g (Dalakhani-Sasuela) (1) 56kg: Tnr: Marco Botti. Jockey: Craig Newitt. Didn't cope with tricky Caulfield track. At his previous start he had beaten Red Cadeaux in a Gr. 3 event at Newbury. He drops back in the weights here and will stay all da so the roomy Flemington track will suit. $35.

8 6117Junoob

7g (Haafhd-Faydah) (7) 55.5kg. Tnr: Chris Waller. Jockey: Hugh Bowman. Finished only seventh in the Caulfield Cup but before that had won the Metropolitan (2400m) at Randwick in Sydney to show his staying abilities. Has the ability to five some cheek. $26.

9 2026Royal Diamond9g (King's Nest-Irresistible) (6) 55.5kg. Tnr: Johnny Murtagh. Jockey: Steven Arnold. Second behind Leading Light in the St Leger Trial (2800m) at The Curragh in August when carrying 61.5kg. Has a lot less weight here and is an experienced nine-year-old who will get the distance without too much problem but not one of major hopes on papers. $51.

10 1212Gatewood

7h (Galileo-Felicity) (22) 55kg. Tnr: John Gosden. Jockey: William Buick. Has been a winner over 2500m in a Gr. 3 event at Deauville this year and only just beaten over same trip in Gr. 2 feature last start. Wonderfully consistent galloper who has been in the money in 18 of his 25 starts but untested over this extreme distance. $51.

11 2131Mutual Regard

6g (Hernando-Hidden Charm) (12) 55kg. Trn: Johnny Murtagh. Jockey: Damien Oliver. Impeccable form including last-start win in Ebor over 2800m at York. Has the ability to get the trip as has finished second over 3600m. Weight looks winnable for him. $15.

12 7110Who Shot Thebarman

6g (Yamanin Vital-Ears) (13) 55kg. Tnr: Chris Waller. Jockey: Glen Boss. New Zealand-owned galloper who won the Auckland Cup earlier this year and was in excellent winning form at Flemington earlier this season with back-to-back wins. Failed last time but can bounce back and prefers this track. Will have a ton of Kiwi support. $26.

13 8124Willing Foe

8g (Dynaformer-Thunder Kitten) (17) 55kg. Tnr: Saeed Bin Suroor. Jockey: James McDonald. Gives Kiwi jockey James McDonald a strong chance. He is a lightly-rated galloper who boasts five wins and five placings from 15 starts and has settled in well in Melbourne. Good fourth last time in the Irish St Leger. Not the worst. $31.

14 3134My Ambivalent

6m (Authorized-Darrey) (4) 54.5kg. Tnr: Roger Varian. Jockey: Andrea Atzeni. Is as consistent as they come and looks to have the talent to shine here. Is a winner at Group 1 and Group 2 level but only against her own age and sex. $51.

15 7055Precedence

9g (Zabeel-Kowtow) (20) 54.5kg. Tnr: Bart and James Cummings. Jockey: Michael Rodd. Has been around quite a few years and has contested this race three times previously without any joy. Hard to see him figuring this time either. $81.

16 1349Brambles

6g (Savabeel-Prickle) (21) 54kg. Tnr: Peter Moody. Jockey: Luke Nolen. New Zealand-bred galloper who has been racing well this campaign and is poised to give a useful account here. Was a handy fourth in the Caulfield Cup and on that run alone deserves plenty of respect in this contest. One for multiple combinations. $31.

17 5647 Mr O'Ceirin 7g (Postponed-Cadell) (19) 54kg. Tnr: Claron Maher. Jockey: Chad Schofield. Finished a meritorious fourth in the JRA Cup at Moonee Valley two starts back which hinted at prospects here. However, form is patchy overall and place chances look best. $201.

18 2643Au Revoir

5h (Singspiel-First) (23) 53.5kg. Tnr: Andre Fabre. Jockey: Glyn Schofield. Has trick barrier draw to contend with. French galloper who has won three of 14 starts. Game attempt to lead all the way in the Moonee Valley Cup and only got run down by Prince Of Penzance. Will improve with the run but could find it hard to get the trip. $51.

19 4426Lidari

6h (Acclamation-Laxlova) (10) 53.5kg. Tnr: Peter Moody. Jockey: Ben Melham. Powerful effort to finish second in the Turnbull Stakes behind Lucia Valentina who will start one of the favourites in this race. Was not far away when sixth in the Caulfield Cup and will have to be taken on trust at this distance. $41.

20 5026Opinion

6g (Oasis Dream-Kiltubber) (14) 53.5kg. Tnr: Chris Waller. Jockey: Tye Angland. Was a game second in the Metropolitan (2400m) behind Junoob who is again a rival here. Struggled in the Moonee Valley Cup last Saturday week but can be forgiven that run. $41.

21 7635Araldo

7h (High Chaparral-Alanda) (24) 53kg. Tnr: Mike Moroney. Jockey: Dawyne Dunn. Trainer boasts previous Melbourne Cup win with Brew. This German import raised a few eyebrows when coming home well for fifth in the Caulfield Cup. Has strong staying form and can figure in the finish here at good odds. $31.

22 1613Lucia Valentina

4m (Savabeel-Staryn Glenn) (2) 53kg. Tnr: Kris Lees. Jockey: Kerrin McEvoy. New Zealand-bred and owned mare who has a lot going in her favour. Got home late for third in the Caulfield Cup and was making up ground well. Has big race rider aboard and looks a big each-way hope. Include. $6.50.

23 4390Unchain

My Heart 8m (Al Maher-Fly By Night) (5) 51.5kg. Tnrs: David Hayes and Tom Dabernig. Jockey: Dean Yendall. Is a previous winner over 3200m so will get the trip okay. However, latest runs not that great and give little room for support. Not fancied. $201.

24 9231Signoff

5g (Authorized-Miss Hepburn) (16) 51kg. Tnr: Darren Weir. Jockey: Joao Moreira. Got into the field at the last minute with a win in Saturday's Lexus Stakes. Yet to race over this journey but looms as a strong lightweight chance. $7

Top chances:Lucia Valentina, Fawkner, Admire Rakti.

Others to watch:Cavalryman, Signoff, Protectionist, Mutual Regard, Red Cadeaux.

Major New Zealand-hopes:Lucia Valentina and Who Shot The Barman.
