Voters turned out in their thousands to be among the first to cast their ballots for this year's General Election.
On the first day of early voting yesterday, 12,211 people voted . That's more than double the 5,459 who cast their ballots on the first day of early voting for the last General Election in 2011.
Among those to vote early on Wednesday were Green Party co-leader, Metiria Turei, Labour Party leader, David Cunliffe, and Internet Party founder, Kim Dotcom.
Until changes were brought in before the last election, you could only cast an advanced vote if you weren't going to be in your electorate on election day. Now anyone can vote early.
Registered voters can cast their vote at one of almost 300 advance polling stations around the country.
